Best cars can be the best cars for many reasons. Could be that it never broke down, could be that the car was fast or pretty, could be the experiences you've had with the car.
So what was the best car you've ever owned for any reason?

81 Audi 5000 turbo. My first Audi, one of the longest owned cars ever for me. Comfy, pretty fast, just everything perfect. If only it was a wagon http://oppositelock.jalopnik.com/my-ode-to-the-…

My first car, a 1995 Miata. Quite simply, it's the most fun car I've ever driven.
Oh, and Happy Birthday Miata!

Does it count if it is the only vehicle I've ever owned? On a side note it has over 100,000 miles and has never had any problems.

The fastest/ most fun to drive was definitely my 2004 Volvo S60 R 6MT but repairs got so expensive I had to sell it. It's in my avatar.
The most fun I've had with a car is probably my current one. 2009 Mazda6 3.7L with some ignorant modifications the kids are into these days.

DDing only Saabs for the last 13 years, but never got into modifying until this one.

My best car was my 1971 Datsun 240Z. It was absurdly low, absurdly wide (had IMSA-like flares), had 275-285 tires all the way around depending on which wheels were on it setup specifically for autocross, and had to either have race fuel or be filled at a rural air strip with leaded fuel. I decided it was the best car ever when my other car was damaged and I decided to try to use it as a DD. It was amazing.
The car was pretty much always sideways, shooting flames, or filling down town with tire smoke. One morning I went to pass a Mustang on a back road at 60 MPH, I shifted into third gear just as I got up beside their driver's door and the car kicked out sideways. I stayed in it and merged in ahead of them still sideways. The car was made of win and I'm convinced it fed on unicorns and leprechauns when I wasn't looking.
Pulled a 12 second 1/4 mile out of it on a rare trip to the strip and it was dominant in autocross for the previous owner as well as myself. Sadly, all my pictures were lost years ago when I crashed my 300ZX and my laptop was destroyed. Hopefully my new Z project will eventually be nearly as cool.

07 Trailblazer SS. Was AWD, drove it year round for the 22 months I had it. Had some visual mods, and bolt-ons. Was a blast. More fun than a brick like that should've been. It was the first "newish" vehicle I bought and financed on my own. Sold it to buy the Corvette to get better mileage whilst going to visit the long-term long-distance GF. She's gone....

this was BY FAR the most reliable car I have ever owned(not actual pic of the car) I had bought it in 2004 and it was a 1999 model with police package. the ODO was reading 289000kms(180000 mile) at time of purchase but the ODO was not working it could of had way more on it. The day after I bought it the alternator crapped out so I got it rebuilt, I think it cost me $95 bucks. After that I beat the living shit out of it for 2.5 years and never put a penny in it other than gas,oil changes & junkyard tires (I couldn't resist doing smokey burnouts in this thing).
I then sold it to my brother who drove it another 2 years before the diff blew up.
buy the time my brother was done with it it had at least 550000kms(340000 miles) on it. I have to say we got our money's worth I had initially bought it for $3000.

My 1973 Ford Maverick. It was a beautiful powder blue, had the 302, the Luxury Decor option and every other single option in the book.
Bought it as a used car in 1978 and then preceded to beat the everloving shit out of it for 3 years. When I traded it in for a 1980 Ford Fairmont Futura in 1980.....there wasn't much of it left.

E46 M3. Fantastic in every way. Amazing engine! Handling was spectacular as long as the rear tires were new. Surprisingly reliable and easy to work on and modify. It's like the engineers actually recognized that parts might need to be replaced (as long as you never go into the engine).

1984 Dodge Colt Turbo, owned 1987-1994. Quick in its day and plenty agile. Waiting for the turbo to spool up was just part of the fun. It taught me that a car means freedom, excitement, and responsibility. It also taught me that sometimes you need to let go and move on, though not until after it was rear-ended by an F-250, salvaged, and overcome by mildew.

This isn't mine, but she looks just like this. 2003 A4 with a turbocharged four banger and Quattro.
Fun in the sun, sure in the snow. What more could I want?

In 1991 I bought a total pile of shit, rusted out '79 LeMans with a 301 and about a gazillion miles for $400. I drove that car for 2 1/2 years without ever spending one cent on maintenance. I never even changed the oil because it leaked/burned so much it always had fresh oil in it. Despite it's anemic engine it would roast it's right rear tire to the cords if you wanted.
It took a pretty good movie style jump to kill it, and even then it wanted to live. I was driving a two lane state route one day in a torrential down pour, following a semi truck. A big section of the road was flooded and the semi driver must have not seen it due to the rain and I couldn't see around him. He hit the section and jammed on his brakes, and by then I had hit it and did the same only to find out I had no brakes. I had a choice of hitting the rear of the trailer, going into the opposing lane of travel or going off road. I choose off road. Next to the road was ditch than farm field about two foot lower than the road. The front of the LeMans ended up impaled in the mud, the engine dead. I hit the key and it fired right up but the car wouldn't budge. When I got out the frame looked like the car had jumped a bridge in a Dukes of Hazzard episode.
I hated leaving the LeMans there, it was easily the best car I ever owned.

This was my DD from when I was 17 until about 6 months ago. Drove it cross country I think 8 times. Did all kinds of fun car stuff in college. Had it set up exactly how I wanted it. Man, that was a good car.

The answer is always Miata, huh?

Weird. I've always had a more negative impression of old police cars.

see that's the thing I had the same impression at first but yes they are driven hard by the popos but everything on it is heavy duty and these things are probably the most well maintained cars on the road(until they fall into the hands of someone like me).

Wanna know a secret?
In that picture the exhaust dumps right after the cat because I took it off for a week out of boredom. So there's literally nothing in the bumper but holes.
